M. Night Shyamalan's latest thriller Knock at the Cabin dropped its first trailer and it's an intense take on a storied horror trope.

The trailer highlights what initially appears to be an idyllic vacation as young Wen and her fathers relax in an isolated house in the woods. What begins as a charming holiday backed by funky music quickly escalates into an intense encounter as the trio is forced to barricade themselves in the house after a group of four strangers break through windows and tie them up. Seemingly led by Dave Bautista's character, the invaders state that they're trying to prevent an apocalypse, a task that will require Wen's parents to make an impossible choice.

Knock at the Cabin is based on the national best-selling novel The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay, the movie's screenplay was penned by Shyamalan, Steve Desmond and Michael Sherman. Speaking about the process of adapting his work, Tremblay revealed that he spent more than he expected quelling internet rumors. "I honestly spent a chunk of my 2022 spring quelling internet rumors and putting out Twitter fires connecting the book and movie," Tremblay revealed. "It reached a point in early June where that became impossible, however, with all the information out there, including the IMDb page. I have been doing my part to be respectful of movie marketing desires and certainly wouldn't dream of spoiling anything."

Knock at the Cabin stars Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Nikki Amuka-Bird, newcomer Kristen Cui, Abby Quinn and Rupert Grint. The film arrives in theaters on Feb. 3, 2023.
