Franchise star Gal Gadot confirmed that Lynda Carter will return for Wonder Woman 3.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gadot said that it "means the world" to have Carter as part of the cast for the DCEU film. "First of all, Lynda has mentored me from the very first moment that I got cast as Wonder Woman," Gadot said. "She was always there, talking to me, giving me tips and everything. She's a true champion of what Patty [Jenkins] and I have been doing, and it was so great that we managed to find the right opportunity to bring her to the last movie and now to the third one." Carter appeared briefly in an end-credits scene of Wonder Woman 1984.

RETURN: Gal Gadot Was Ready to Walk Away From Wonder Woman 1984 Over Her Salary

This comes after director Patty Jenkins teased Carter's return at the 2021 DC FanDome, saying, "We're all three very excited about some things coming up with Wonder Woman 3." On top of that, Carter, who also appeared at DC FanDome, said, "In Wonder Woman 3, which I can't wait to hear you come out with, any...," before Jenkins jumped in with "Can't wait to hear to not talk about!" The two then laughed and Carter added, "Even if I did know, you'd have to kill me to have me talk about it, but I don't."

Carter played television's original Wonder Woman in the television show of the same name from 1975 to 1979. She later cameoed in the 2020 film Wonder Woman 1984 as Asteria, whose golden eagle armor Diana wears in the film's climactic battle with Cheetah. Asteria would also appear in the film's post-credits scene, confirming that she still exists in the present day, despite a flashback sequence leaving her fate unknown.

Wonder Woman 3 was fast-tracked by Warner Bros. just days after WW84's premiere in theaters and on HBO Max. "As fans around the world continue to embrace Diana Prince, driving the strong opening weekend performance of Wonder Woman 1984, we are excited to be able to continue her story with our real-life Wonder Women -- Gal and Patty -- who will return to conclude the long-planned theatrical trilogy," Warner Bros. Pictures Group Chairman Toby Emmerich said at the time.

Gadot also recently revealed that the script for the DCEU threequel is currently in the works, but couldn't reveal any more information. Like the first film in the trilogy, Wonder Woman 3 will premiere exclusively in theaters at the behest of Jenkins, who previously stated that straight-to-streaming productions "look like fake movies," explaining that she doesn't think that they create legendary greatness.
