Sony Pictures Japan has released its own trailer for "Underworld: Blood Wars," and it's short, sweet and packed with all the guns and tightly choreographed action sequences that audiences have come to expect from an "Underworld" movie.

Clocking in at just over a minute in length, the new trailer doesn't seem to contain any new footage not seen in the film's previous trailers, but it does have a Japanese voiceover and dialogue that is subbed, not dubbed.

It also underlines what we already knew about the film's plot – that franchise star Selene (Kate Beckinsale) and her missing daughter have blood that could potentially end the centuries-long conflict between Vampires and Lycans, and that those werewolves definitely want to get their hairy paws on some.

The film's new villain, the Lycan leader Marius (played by "Game of Thrones" actor Tobias Menzies) gets some good screen time, but Selene still runs rings around him – literally, as she speeds out of his clutches leaving him holding just her coat. We also see Selene make a narrow escape from a crashing helicopter and take on a huge CG werewolf (presumably Marius) with a sword in a frozen landscape.

But with its focus on the fighting, we don't get to see Menzies' fellow "Game of Thrones" alum Charles Dance, who brought so much to the previous film, 2012's "Underworld: Awakening," as Vampire elder Thomas.

Thomas is something of an ally to Selene, but he did hand her daughter over to the Lycans to save his own clan, so their relationship in the new movie is problematic at best.

Directed by Anna Foerster, “Underworld: Blood Wars” also stars Theo James, Trent Garrett, Lara Pulver and Bradley James. The film opens Jan. 6, 2017.
