Netflix has released a full-length trailer for Lupin Part 2, confirming the French crime thriller will begin streaming new episodes on June 11.

The trailer picks up where Lupin Part 1 left things, with master thief Assane Diop's (Omar Sy) young son Raoul (Etan Simon) being kidnapped by figures connected to Assane's nemesis, the rich and powerful tycoon Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre). Part 2 will follow Assane as he takes on not only Pellegrini but also the police hot on his trail, making him "the most wanted man in France."

Created for television by by George Kay and François Uzan, Lupin revolves around Assane, the son of a French-Senegel immigrant who grows up to become a master burglar, inspired by the adventures of Maurice Leblanc's famous literary character, the "Gentleman Thief" Arsène Lupin. In time, Assane comes to discover his late father was framed for stealing a high-priced diamond necklace from his former employer, Pellegrini, and sets out to take revenge by using his skills to expose Pellegrini's illicit activities.

Released in Jan. 2021, Lupin Part 1 was a bit hit with critics and general viewers, earning a stellar 98 percent Fresh score from critics on the review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, along with a 79 percent audience score. The site's critics' consensus reads: "Omar Sy effortlessly hits every mark in Lupin, an engrossing espionage thriller that lives up to its source material and then some."

According to viewership statistics released by Netflix, Lupin Part 1 was the streamer's most-watched new series from the first quarter of 2021. At least 76 million Netflix accounts have seen two or more minutes (which the company counts as a "view") of Lupin, tying The Witcher Season 1's viewership from Dec. 2019. Those series rank only behind Bridgerton Season 1, which has been watched by more than 82 million accounts since it launched near the end of 2020.

The official synopsis for Lupin Part 2 reads as follows: "Pursued by Hubert and his henchmen, Assane scrambles to find Raoul and wins an unlikely new ally as he draws up a grand plan to reveal Hubert's crimes."

Lupin stars Omar Sy, Vincent Londez, Lidivine Sagnier, Hervé Pierre, Soufiane Guerrab, Etan Simon, Shirine Boutella, Antoine Guoy and Clotilde Hesme. The first part of Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix, with Part 2 premiering June 11.
