Luke Skywalker sits atop the Star Wars franchise as the perfect example of a classic hero. As a protagonist, Luke was always brave, ambitious, persistent, and in due time, wise. He is exactly what readers would expect in a superhero and would not look out of place among Marvel's biggest heroes. In fact, technically, he already is among Marvel's best heroes, since the original Star Wars trilogy was rebooted in the comics under the Marvel banner.

Now that Luke Skywalker has officially been rebranded as a Marvel superhero, it leaves some to wonder if any Marvel heroes could make a similar transition into the Star Wars universe. More specifically, which heroes would and would not prevail if they picked up a lightsaber in Skywalker's presence.

10 CAN'T BEAT: Deadpool Who Is Unkillable

deadpool anime

Someone like Deadpool presents Luke Skywalker with an enemy he's never faced before: someone who is literally unkillable. Even if the typically good-willed Jedi was compelled to kill The Merc with a Mouth, the latter's regeneration ability allows him to keep coming back, even if a lightsaber beheads him.

It also needs mentioning that Deadpool knows his way around a good blade - regularly carrying two, at that - so a saber duel might actually be a challenge for Skywalker. In a fight to the death, with no end in sight for Deadpool, the Weapon X experiment could just buy his time until Luke's at his most tired.

9 COULD BEAT: Nightcrawler With His Three Swords

Even the most die-hard of X-Men fans may have forgotten that it has been well established by now that Nightcrawler has mastered sword-wielding almost as well as he has mastered teleportation. Stories like Bizarre Adventures #27 by Jo Duffy and Dave Cockrum have showcased Nightcrawler in duels wielding not one, not two, but three swords at once (thanks to his tail).

Wielding multiple sabers at once puts him in a league among duelists like General Grievous, who Luke's own Master Obi-Wan "Ben" Solo defeated in his heyday. Grappling with a bunch of lightsabers at once won't do Nightcrawler that well in a duke-out with a true master Jedi.

8 CAN'T BEAT: Gamora As A Skilled Swordmaster

It's easy to forget that among Gamora's many skills taught to her by her daddy Thanos, she was taught how to be a swordmaster. This is a skill that particularly came in handy when Gamora found herself in the midst of a sword-fighting tournament, where she bested an Asgardian and made it to the finals.

In that moment alone, she proved that she could quickly master any blade placed in front of her. A lightsaber should be no different, possibly giving a quick curtain call to the supposed Master Jedi himself, Luke Skywalker, in a hypothetical duel.

7 COULD BEAT: Daredevil Even With His Heightened Senses

DAREDEVIL COSTUMES - The Man Without Fear

One might assume that Daredevil would have an advantage in a fight against any Jedi when the blind man's senses were heightened, but those heightened senses, if anything, merely put Matt Murdock on an even playing field against someone like Luke Skywalker.

The Jedi have their own heightened sense of awareness in all of their senses once they've mastered The Force. With or without a lightsaber, Daredevil would be on their same boat. But for the sake of practicality, assuming Daredevil does pick up a saber, he won't last long against someone who truly mastered it.

6 CAN'T BEAT: Wolverine Who's Nearly Unkillable

Wolverine X of Swords 1

Yes, Wolverine is already walking around with miniature swords stored in his knuckles, but he actually has a background in some legit sword training, thanks to the tutelage of Silver Samurai. Eventually, the student was able to not only surpass the master in combat but defeat him as well.

The art of sword mastery isn't that far off from lightsaber mastery, so it won't take long for ole Logan to figure out how a lightsaber works, but he becomes unbeatable on the same grounds that make his fellow Weapon X mate Deadpool unbeatable: he's virtually unkillable.

5 COULD BEAT: Spider-Man Wouldn't Do Well Against A Lightsaber

SPIDER-MAN - Stand-up Comedian

Cockier than Deadpool, a fight with Spider-Man might do more to annoy Luke Skywalker than challenge him. His agility and acrobatic fighting style might be enough to make this a long fight, but not a challenging one.

This is the Peter Parker version of Spider-Man being talked about here. He knows his way around hand-to-hand combat but often finds himself at a disadvantage in front of a weapon and a fighter who has mastered it. A fight with Luke Skywalker would be no different, whether Parker has a lightsaber or not.

4 CAN'T BEAT: Blade Who Is Both A Vampire & Swordsman

Blade walking through the vampire rave

As readers eagerly anticipate when Mahershala Ali takes up the mantle for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Blade, now might be a good time to remind readers that along with being a day-walking vampire, he is a master swordsman.

The imagery of Blade wielding his own lightsaber is an amazing sight to think about, it's one that even Luke Skywalker might fret at. A vampire that neither The Force or a lightsaber could kill so easily would be a challenge for any Jedi, let alone a master of it.

3 COULD BEAT: Jessica Jones Who'd Quickly Lose Patience

Jessica Jones in Marvel Comics

In a battle of pure strength and maybe even hand-to-hand combat, Jessica Jones wins this easily as one of Marvel's strongest characters but battles with the Jedi - especially lightsaber duels, assuming Jones would agree to a fairer battleground closer to Luke's element - are more mental than physical.

With or without his lightsaber, most of Luke's fiercest battles have been won with strategy, cunning, and mental strength. Some of Jones' worst qualities include lacking patience and being gung-ho in the brashest way possible. This would cost her the fight.

2 CAN'T BEAT: Storm Who Has Mastered Lightning

Storm in X of Swords

X-Men's Storm has the strength - both mental and physical - of a natural-born leader and it should not be too hard to imagine her mastering The Force rather quickly, making her a formidable adversary for Mr. Skywalker. However, what makes her an unbeatable adversary is her mastering of lightning.

Traditionally, per Wookiepedialightning powers are a Sith trait that the Jedi cannot easily learn or overcome. Fans will remember that Darth Sidious' Force lightning nearly killed Skywalker at his best shape in Return of the Jedi. With Storm being known to have her own killer instinct, Luke may suffer the same fate at her hands.

1 COULD BEAT: Tony Stark Who Would Be Unfamiliar With A Jedi's Fighting Style

Iron Man's two faces

With the tech at his disposal and that genius brain of his beneath a layer of overconfidence, Tony Stark could probably make his own lightsaber from scratch with a hunk of metal and scrap (if he hasn't already). But being a lightsaber wielder starts with mastering The Force, first and foremost.

That isn't to say that he can't, in due time. He's more than just an Iron Man with a bunch of suits, but going into a fight with Luke Skywalker as a novice - with or without his suits - immediately put Stark at a disadvantage that he probably can't overcome on his own.
