Three major Star Wars characters have just landed on the Fortnite Battle Royale island.

Epic Games has announced that Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa and Han Solo, modeled after how they appeared in the original Star Wars trilogy, are now available in the Fortnite Item Shop as part of Star Wars Week. In addition to the outfits, players can also purchase Star Wars-themed pickaxes, gliders and back blings. Epic Games has also unvaulted a couple of classic Star Wars weapons in Fortnite, with lightsabers and E-11 Blaster Rifles back in the battle royale for the week. Darth Vader and his Storm Troopers have also returned as NPCs, roaming the island and ready to fight whoever crosses their path.

Written and directed by George Lucas, Star Wars was released on May 25, 1977 and followed Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) as he was drawn into a galactic conflict between the Empire and Rebel Alliance. The film was a resounding success both with audiences and critics, leading to two equally well-received and profitable sequels -- The Empire Strikes Back in 1980 and Return of the Jedi in 1983. Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher also starred in the Star Wars original trilogy as Han Solo and Leia Organa, respectively. All three characters returned for Disney and Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, which was released between 2015 and 2019 and concluded the "Skywalker Saga."

These Are the Skins Fortnite Is Looking For

The Star Wars original trilogy sets are the latest collaboration between Lucasfilm and Fortnite. Other Star Wars characters that have previously appeared in the popular battle royale (as NPCs or purchasable skins) include the Mandalorian and Grogu, Rey, Finn, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Kylo Ren, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Zorii Bliss, among others. Luke, Leia and Han are the latest characters from pop culture to join Fortnite following Evil Dead's Ash Williams, who was recently part of the game's annual Fortnitemares event. DC Comics antihero Black Adam, modeled after the Dwayne Johnson version of the character, was also added to the Fortnite Item Shop recently to promote the release of the DC Extended Universe film of the same name.

Star Wars remains one of the biggest franchises in the galaxy, with several films and series currently in the works at Lucasfilm. One project fans are seemingly the most excited for is The Mandalorian Season 3, which will further the adventures of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu (nicknamed "Baby Yoda" by the fans). The third season will premiere on Disney+ in February 2023, although an official premiere date has not yet been officially announced by the streamer or Lucasfilm at this time.
