Mike Colter, who stars in Marvel's Luke Cage, has posted a behind-the-scenes picture on Twitter from his work on Men in Black 3 (2012), showing him holding hands with co-star Josh Brolin. Colter also took the opportunity to make a tongue-in-cheek reference to another of Brolin's characters: the Mad Titan, Thanos.

Brolin played Thanos, the villain of Avengers: Infinity War (in theaters now). Thanks to Luke Cage being part of the Netflix lineup of shows set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Colter's character technically exists in the same world as Thanos. Therefore, he was at least theoretically vulnerable to "the Snap," which reduced half of the MCU's characters to dust.

Colter added a caption to the picture of himself and Brolin, pretending that they had made a deal while filming MIB3: "I will hold your hand between takes IF you promise to not let your future Marvel character kill my future ⁦Marvel character in a future ⁦Marvel movie where a lot of us get wiped out."

Seasons 1 and 2 of Luke Cage are currently streaming on Netflix. Although Season 2 was aired after Infinity War hit theaters, it makes no reference to the events of the movie. To preserve the continuity between the movies and the TV shows, viewers can assume that Luke Cage Season 2 takes place before Infinity War. Further answers may be coming next year in the untitled Avengers 4.

Colter added another perspective to his caption, using emojis to convey some serious thinking about Luke Cage's apparent survival, followed by a shrug: "Guess it worked."
