Some of the real-life musical artists set to appear on the upcoming second season of Luke Cage have been revealed.

One of the highlights of the Netflix adaptation of Marvel's Luke Cage was musical artists appearing on the show as themselves to perform their own songs including Method Man and Jidenna. This looks to continue into next month's second season with several of the artists slated to cameo in the new season revealed.

The second season will feature the return of Faith Evans and D-Nice who both appeared in the first season along with newcomers Joi, Gary Clark Jr., Esperanza Spalding, Ghostface Killah, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Stephen Marley, Jadakiss, KRS-One, and Rakim.

"When you say, ‘We're going to shoot you like no one else has shot you on a show,' and you can show long tracking shots of Raphael Saadiq or you can show the intercut footage of Sharon Jones, they were like, ‘We have to do the show,'" explained Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker in an interview with Billboard on how he got the top shelf talent to appear on the series. "The people I would see out in the store who were not the typical Faith Evans fans would say, ‘Hey! I saw you on Luke Cage!'"

Artists that appeared on the first season of the Netflix show saw a significant boost in streams after their appearances including Jidenna who saw a whopping 2,134% jump in streams the week after his appearance while Faith Evans received a boost of 516% increase after her appearance.

One of artist in particular Coker is excited having appear on the second season is hip hop artist Rakim.

"Not only do we have him on Luke Cage, we have him performing a song about Luke Cage," gushed Coker. "It's manna from heaven."

Arriving on June 22 on Netflix, the second season of Luke Cage stars Mike Colter, Simone Missick, Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi, Rosario Dawson, Mustafa Shakir, and Gabrielle Dennis.
