Misty Knight’s new bionic arm is thrust into the middle of the action in the latest images from the second season of Marvel’s Luke Cage.
The four photos arrive following the debut on Tuesday of a teaser trailer announcing the acclaimed drama’s June 22 return to Netflix.
Simone Missick’s fan-favorite Misty lost her right arm fighting The Hand in the finale of The Defenders, heralding an addition from the comic books that fans have long awaited: the bionic arm. One of the closing scenes showed the rising star of the New York Police Department recovering in a hospital owned by Danny Rand, described by Colleen Wing as “a state-of-the-art kind of place.” “Maybe they can help,” she said. “Get you back up and running.”
In Marvel comics, Tony Stark provided by Misty with her bionic arm, but fans have been speculating for months about who, exactly, designs her prosthesis, which debuted in August in an early image from Luke Cage Season 2.
In Marvel’s Luke Cage Season 2, after clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.
Arriving June 22 on Netflix, Luke Cage stars Mike Colter, Simone Missick, Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi, Rosario Dawson, Mustafa Shakir and Gabrielle Dennis.
