Netflix's corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows has been suffering from a flurry of cancellations, so it's a comfort for fans to know that Jessica Jones currently has a third season in production.

Now, it looks like there might be something else to look forward to when the season debuts in early 2019: the return of Luke Cage, Jessica's former love interest, fellow Defender and the star of the recently-cancelled Luke Cage.

Yesterday, Krysten Ritter, who plays Jessica Jones, posted a selfie on her Instagram that shows herself and co-star Carrie Anne Moss, who has appeared in Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Iron Fist as lawyer Jeryn Hogarth. Ritter's comment on the photo was limited to, "The queen herself - my bestie @carrieannemoss," but the post also attracted an intriguing comment from Luke Cage's actor Mike Colter.

"Wow so familiar," Colter's comment read. "I felt like I was there!" He included a "nerdy" emoji, but offered no further hints about what he meant.

Since the press surrounding his show's cancellation has implied that Marvel isn't done with his character, he could feasibly show up on Jessica Jones to help give Luke Cage fans some much-needed closure.

The character of Luke Cage was introduced to Netflix through his role on Jessica Jones and was reunited with Jessica for The Defenders. The two characters have long been associated due to the history of their counterparts in Marvel's comics, but Ritter and Colter haven't appeared on-screen together since The Defenders.

The third season of Jessica Jones is expected to debut on Netflix in early 2019.
