Cartoonist Lucy Knisley is not happy with the state of American politics right now. She's concerned about the financial conflicts of interest of President-elect Donald Trump as well as his appointment of white supremacist Steve Bannon as White House chief strategist. Another issue close to her heart is the mistreatment of the peaceful protesters at Standing Rock.

With all that going on, the "Relish" creator is not standing idly by. Knisley is speaking out on these and other issues by calling her elected representatives. As a reminder to make such calls as often as possible, Knisley has created a series of calling cards that she keeps on her bulletin board -- and she has now shared them on her blog, inviting fans to print them out for their own use.

Drawn in her trademark style, the cards invite readers to take a deep, cleansing breath before picking up the phone to voice their concerns. Three of the cards address the issues above. Another two are blank, allowing readers to add their own concerns. There are also spaces to enter the names and contact info of readers' representatives.

The cards are a quarter page each, so readers can print four at a time on a standard 8 1/2 x 11 page. Knisley also includes a link to a Google spreadsheet comprising calling scripts and a directory of representatives' numbers.

Lucy Knisley’s latest work is the graphic novel “Something New: Tales from a Makeshift Bride.” You can order it here. You can view and download Knisley's calling cards at her blog.
