Lucifer star Tom Ellis revealed that he'd like to tackle more singing roles.

"I don't know. I mean, I certainly would like to carry on singing," Ellis said during a live Q&A with fans that aired on StageIt.com. "I don't know whether I'm going to release music but I certainly just enjoy doing it." The actor added that he "certainly will do it, you know, live and stuff, whenever the opportunity, with people that would appreciate it."

"You know, certainly like, doing music on the show has made me realize that I'd like to, like carry on singing and do that in my professional career as well, in terms of acting," he continued. "So should the opportunity come up to do a musical or something like that? Yeah, then yes. I would love to do that if it's the right one. But yes. Watch this space."

Across its four and a half seasons so far, Lucifer has featured a variety of musical numbers, including one in which Ellis' Lucifer performed "Eternal Flame" for Det. Chloe Decker (Season 2, Episode 14) and another in which a literally soulless Mazikeen performed Oasis' "Wonderwall" in front of everybody at Lux as a "grand gesture" for Eve (Season 4, Episode 9).

In September 2020, it was announced that the second half of Season 5 will include an entire musical episode titled "Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam."

"We wanted to have a real grounded story reason why they're singing and dancing, and not just, ‘Oh, this is going to be the one where everybody sings and dance,'" co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich shared. "It’s been a little game of Tetris [planning the episode] but it's super fun," she added. "It’s going to be amazing. It's going to be just such a bucket list thing for me."

It was also recently revealed that the musical episode will feature singer and songwriter Debbie Gibson, who will appear as Shelly Bitner, a "controlling helicopter mother who won’t let her teenage son JJ have any say in his own future." Lucifer's musical episode, "Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam," will air as the tenth episode of Season 5.

Lucifer stars Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, Lauren German as Det. Chloe Decker, D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin, Kevin Alejandro as Det. Dan Espinoza, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen Smith and Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez. Season 5, Part 1 is available on Netflix now.
