The first half of Lucifer Season 5 premiered last month on Netflix, quickly becoming one of the most popular programs on the streaming service in the days and weeks following its release. As the Vertigo Comics adaptation prepares to resume production on the Season 5 finale before moving right into the sixth season, the final episode order has reportedly been revealed.

While Season 5 will run for a total of sixteen episodes upon the release of its second part, sources indicate that the upcoming sixth and final season has only ordered 10 episodes in all. Netflix has not officially confirmed the episode count for Season 6.

Principal photography on the Season 5 finale was shut down this past March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with star Tom Ellis estimating that approximately 60 percent of the episode had been filmed before the temporary suspension. Production is expected to resume on Sept. 24, with filming launching right into Season 6 in October.

Season 5 was originally supposed to be the series' last but, with the series' runaway success on the digital platform after its acquisition from Fox, Netflix announced this past June that it had renewed the show for a sixth and definitively final season after completing negotiations with Ellis to reprise his eponymous starring role.
