Lucifer's Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia) spent most of Season 4 struggling to find her faith. After her last romance almost cost Ella her life, she will be having a crisis of self in Season 5b.

During an exclusive interview with Lucifer's co-showrunner to discuss his upcoming Image Comics series Shadecraft, Joe Henderson revealed that "Ella finished her crisis of faith from last season, but now she's in a crisis of self, [but] now, she's sort of doubting herself."

"But to me, and our writers, those things -- self and faith -- are more intertwined than anyone can really know. And that's one of the things that we'll explore in 5b, as we bring her two big conflicts to their boiling points," the co-showrunner said.

When asked if Ella would have a chance to confront God in the upcoming second half of Season 5, Henderson coyly said, "Ella Lopez and God, that feels like a scene that should happen... But far be it from to reveal anything that might come up in the future. But boy, I would love to see the two of them have a conversation."

While he didn't confirm or deny whether Ella will have a chance to discuss her issues of faith and self with God, he agreed that the show sets out to explore if Ella feels " loved by God or forsaken by God."
