After a contract dispute put Season 6 of the Fox-turned-Netflix series in jeopardy, Tom Ellis is officially on-board for more Lucifer.

According to TVLine, while Lucifer has yet to be picked up for a sixth season by the streaming giant, Ellis has signed on the dotted line ahead of Season 5, which still remains without a release date.

In April, a report surfaced claiming Ellis rejected Warner Bros. Television's latest offer just one month after signing a contract extension for Season 6, which could have potentially landed him in breach of said contract.

Ellis has played the lead role since Lucifer's premiere in 2016. Based on the DC/Vertigo character of the same name created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, Lucifer premiered on Fox and ran for three seasons before being canceled by the network. Netflix revived the series for a fourth season, then touted Season 5 as the show's last.

Helmed by Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich, Lucifer Season 4 stars Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, Lauren German as Det. Chloe Decker, D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin, Kevin Alejandro as Det. Dan Espinoza, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen Smith and Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez. Season 5 is slated to premiere on Netflix in 2020.
