Lucifer star D.B. Woodside -- who plays the angel Amenadiel -- has confirmed that he will not only reprise his role in the recently confirmed Season 6, but will also be sitting in the director's chair for one of its episodes.

"Happy to announce that I will be returning to Lucifer for Season 6. Additionally, I will be directing an episode for our final season," Woodside wrote on Twitter. "This is a beautiful cast. We stand by each other. We fight for one another." Lucifer lead Tom Ellis -- who plays the Devil (and Amenadiel's younger brother) himself, quote-tweeted Woodside's announcement, adding, "Yes Brother...! Utterly delighted and excited to get back alongside you both in front of and behind the camera."

The eldest and one of the most powerful of God's angels, Woodside's Amenadiel has been a Lucifer staple since Season 1, having been tasked with convincing the former Samael to return to his place as the ruler of Hell. Amenadiel was last seen in Season 4's finale, when he and Rachael Harris' Linda Martin decided they would raise their son, Charlie, on Earth.

Based on the DC/Vertigo Comics character of the same name created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, Lucifer first premiered on Fox in early 2016, initially running for three seasons before being canceled by the network. The supernatural drama was then revived by Netflix, with Season 4 premiering on the streaming giant in its entirety last year. The series was then renewed for a fifth season, which was initially billed as the show's last. However, following additional negotiations, Lucifer is now set to conclude with Season 6.
