The upcoming sixth and final season of Lucifer will see the return of Jimmy Barnes, the antagonist of the supernatural detective series' pilot episode.

In the latest edition of his Matt's Inside Line feature, TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich was asked if Lucifans can expect any familiar faces from Lucifer's past to return for Season 6. "The killer from the supernatural series' pilot -- music producer Jimmy Barnes -- plays a pivotal role in an early episode, as Lucifer works through exactly what it will mean to be God," Mitovich replied.

Played by John Pankow, Jimmy Barnes was the villain of Lucifer's very first episode -- simply titled "Pilot" -- which originally premiered on Fox on Jan. 25, 2016. After being incarcerated for his crimes, Jimmy was last seen in Lucifer's second episode, "Lucifer, Stay. Good Devil." The character has been absent from the series ever since, only appearing in the form of a flashback in Season 4's "Somebody's Been Reading Dante's Inferno."

Based on the DC/Vertigo Comics character of the same name created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, Lucifer originally aired on Fox, which canceled the show after three seasons. Netflix revived Lucifer for Season 4, which premiered in 2019. Season 5A followed suit in 2020, with Season 5B arriving this past May. Lucifer Season 5 was originally announced as the series' last, though the show was ultimately renewed for Season 6, which will close the series.
