With Netflix's Lucifer slated to return for the back half of Season 5 sometime in the near future, the show's official Twitter account encourages fans to ring in the new year with a "fancam" recapping the story so far.The clip runs 57 seconds, with its caption explaining that if you start watching tonight just after 11:59 p.m., the fancam will conclude as the clock strikes midnight to usher in 2021. Lucifer Season 5A concluded with God (Dennis Haysbert) returning to Earth for the first time since creating it in order to confront Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and his angelic brothers. The New Year's fancam concludes with God telling Lucifer, "I've come to ask you something." Based on the Vertigo/DC Comics character of the same name created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, Lucifer originally premiered on Fox in 2016, and was canceled after three seasons. Netflix then revived Lucifer for Season 4, which hit the platform in May of 2019. The show was subsequently renewed for Season 5, which is 16 episode long and has been split into two equal parts. Season 5A hit Netflix this past August, while Season 5B still lacks a release date. Season 5 was originally announced as the series' last, though Lucifer was ultimately renewed following continued negotiations, and is now slated to conclude with Season 6.
