Sons of Anarachy creator Kurt Sutter will return to comic books in 2018 with Lucas Stand: Inner Demons, and he's bringing the creative team of the original 2016 series with him. CBR has the first details.
Lucas Stand: Inner Demons is a four-issue series co-written by Sutter and Caitlin Kittredge with art by Jesús Hervás, reuniting the team behind BOOM! Studios' first Lucas Stand miniseries. The first series introduced Lucas Stand -- "a military veteran brought back to life by a dark angel and forced to hunt escaped demons throughout different eras in time," as BOOM! Studios' official press release describes him -- and the sequel will see Lucas Stand take on challenges beyond demons.
"In Volume 1 we just scratched the surface, and with Inner Demons we're diving deeper and exploring more time periods, more demons, and even bigger, badder enemies for Lucas," Kittredge said in a statement. "Plus, it feels great to be getting the band back together! Jesús is a phenomenal artist and Kurt is amazingly collaborative and open to new ideas. I feel privileged to be telling another chapter of Lucas's story alongside the two of them."
"When our first Lucas Stand series came to a conclusion we were hoping we'd have another chance to play in that world," Matt Gagnon, BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief said in a statement to CBR. "With Kurt, Caitlin, Jesús, and the whole Lucas Stand team, we really felt like we struck creative pay dirt. There's incredible storytelling chemistry with this team and we're overjoyed we’ve been able to get the gang back together for another bloody ride."
Sutter is best known as the creator of Sons of Anarchy, and started his relationship with BOOM! Studios with the Los Angeles-based publisher's licensed comic based on the FX series. He's also known for his work on The Shield and creating The Bastard Executioner. Kittredge is best known for her work on Coffin Hill and Throwaways, and Hervás' art was most recently seen on Titan Comics' Penny Dreadful comic.
Lucas Stand: Inner Demons #1 is scheduled for release in February 2018, with a cover by Adam Gorham. The first look at the cover and solicitation text follows.
