That is until she starts working at a new office and starts dating her childhood best friend and fellow otaku, Hirotaka Nifuji. She also befriends fellow yaoi fangirl, Hanako Koyanagi, and her boyfriend, Tarō Kabakura. Together, the two couples form a bond and help one another balance their work lives, hobbies, and relationships.

Narumi's boyfriend, Hirotaka, has a younger brother named Naoya that Narumi cares for dearly and resembles in many ways. They have very similar personality traits and have got along well since they were children. The countless similarities between Narumi and Naoya's seen throughout the series can be partly explained by their zodiac sign.

Despite Narumi's criticisms of Hirotaka's game addiction, she plays games quite frequently herself. Specifically, she plays otome games on her own time and plays racing games like Super Mario Kart and action-RPG games like Monster Hunter with her boyfriend and their friends.
She even included Hirotaka's younger brother, Naoya, in their online play sessions despite his lack of skill. Unlike Hirotaka, Narumi doesn't spend all her free time playing video games, but she enjoys it enough to be considered a game otaku nonetheless.
6 Hirotaka Is The Reason She Is An Otaku
Narumi wasn't always an otaku. She's known Hirotaka since they were young and he was the only one, other than her family, who knew that she is an otaku.
As a child, Hirotaka introduced her to the otaku lifestyle when he agreed to give her his trading cards with cute characters on them in exchange for her cards with powerful characters on them. This sparked her fascination with otome idols and made her into the fujoshi otaku that she is today.
5 She Can Be Impatient At Times
Patience is a virtue that Narumi just doesn't have. She doesn't like waiting on others even though, oftentimes, her friends have to wait on her. Narumi isn't known for her promptness or for finishing tasks on time, but those around her understand that about her and patiently wait on her when she has to work overtime.
Narumi, however, gets anxious when waiting on Hirotaka as she is usually excited to clock-out and do whatever activity she was looking forward to on that particular day.
4 She Is An Impulsive Person
Narumi's relationship with Hirotaka came as no surprise to viewers, but for those in the world of Wotakoi: Love Is Hard For Otaku, it was definitely sudden. Despite Hirotaka's longtime feelings for her, she never saw him as a potential romantic partner.
It wasn't until Hirotaka promised to help her with gaming, stay late during her overtime, never make her cry, and openly support her as an otaku, that she saw him in a different light. Like most decisions she makes, her agreement to be Hirotaka's girlfriend came rather spontaneously.
3 She Is The Youngest Of The Group
Among Narumi's friend group, she is the youngest in age with all her friends being anywhere from a few months to a few years older than her.
She and Hirotaka are both 26-years-old and were born during the same year, but he is still older than her by two months. Narumi is also a year younger than her friend and soulmate, Hanako, who is 27-years-old, and she is two years younger than the eldest of the group, Kabakura, who is 28-years-old.
2 She Has Body Insecurities
Despite Narumi's outwardly confident appearance, she has insecurities, as most of us do. Upon discovering Hirotaka's anime figures in his room, she becomes aware of his preference for women with larger chest sizes.
This causes her to compare her own bodily features to the figurines, and she becomes self-conscious about her smaller chest. Hirotaka later reassures her, but seeing a self-assured woman like Narumi having a moment of insecurity makes her character even more relatable to fans.
1 She Is Exactly 1 Foot Shorter Than Hirotaka
The height difference between Narumi and Hirotaka is obvious, and although their individual measurements are known, most fans don't realize how staggering the difference is. Narumi is the shortest of the bunch measuring in at 154 cm or 5 feet.
Ironically, Hirotaka is 184 cm or 6 feet tall, making him the tallest of their friends and 30 cm or a whole foot taller than Narumi. Although this may seem awkward to some, Hirotaka often teases Narumi by patting her head or using her as an armrest making their height difference funny and endearing.
