Natalie Portman, who portrays Jane Foster/Mighty Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder, has revealed which Marvel Cinematic Universe character she would like to work with next.

The actor attended the world premiere of Thor: Love and Thunder on June 23 and was on the red carpet when Variety asked her which MCU superhero she would like to see Mighty Thor team up with next in a future crossover film. After praising her experience working with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, who play Thor and Valkyrie in Love and Thunder respectively, Portman answered, "I love Captain Marvel. Brie [Larson] is a dear friend so that would be a fun one."

Portman first joined the MCU back in 2009, when she was cast as Dr. Jane Foster in Thor (2011). She reprised the role in 2013 for Thor: The Dark World. Portman did not return for 2017's Thor: Ragnarok and was absent from the MCU until 2019's Avengers: Endgame, which featured a deleted scene of Portman from The Dark World alongside a new voice-over that Portman recorded just for the film. The actor's return to the MCU for Thor: Love and Thunder came after director Taika Waititi outlined the sequel's story and realized that bringing Jane back into Thor's life would "be kind of cool."

Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel made her debut in 2019's Captain Marvel, which served as a '90s-era prequel to the MCU. Larson reprised her role as the cosmic superhero in 2019's Avengers: Endgame and is set to appear in 2023's The Marvels alongside Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel and Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau. Despite both appearing in Endgame, Portman and Larson did not share any screen time.

Fans who are interested in seeing a potential Mighty Thor/Captain Marvel team-up might be disappointed to learn that Waititi doesn't expect Portman's version of the God of Thunder to stick around the MCU for long. "I think a lot of fans are gonna potentially assume, 'Oh, OK, this is the passing on of the torch'... I'm not privy to any plans Marvel has for the future, but I don't think that's the case," Waititi said in May 2022. Portman's Mighty Thor has not been rumored or confirmed to appear in any other MCU film or show besides Love and Thunder.

Thor: Love and Thunder features an ensemble cast that includes Portman, Hemsworth, Thompson, Waititi, Jaimie Alexander, Russell Crowe, Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel. Tickets for Love and Thunder are now available to pre-order ahead of the film's theatrical release on July 8.
