The cast of the Prime Video series The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power is growing for Season 2.

The streaming service announced the addition of three new cast members on the show, namely Ciarán Hinds, Rory Kinnear, and Tanya Moodie, all of whom will feature in recurring roles throughout the next chapter of the fantasy saga. At the time of writing, the characters each performer will play are unknown but more details will likely be shared in the near future.

Many fans will likely know Hinds from Zack Snyder's Justice League, in which he voiced the villain Steppenwolf. The Oscar-nominated actor is also regarded for his roles in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Frozen 2, Game of Thrones and Belfast. Kinnear is widely recognized for appearing as Bill Tanner in several 007 films including Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre, as well as his television work, including Penny Dreadful and Our Flag Means Death. Moodie has previously starred in franchises including Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, The Man Who Fell to Earth and Empire of Light.

The Rings of Power Is a Huge Story

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has proven to be a staggering success for Prime Video with Season 1 earning the title of the service's biggest premiere as well as being the platform's most-viewed original production. Adapted from the works of beloved fantasy author J.R.R. Tolkien, the show is set a thousand before the journey of The Fellowship of the Ring and chronicles the creation of the titular artifacts alongside the rise of Sauron.

While the details about The Rings of Power Season 2's plot remain largely shrouded in mystery, Amazon Studios' Head of Global TV Vernon Sanders promised fans the scale of the story will only become grander. "I think audiences can look forward to a show that, while it feels true to itself, feels like the stakes are ever higher and now that the rings are in play, seeing what they can do and seeing how the various factions within the world deal with those implications," Sanders said. "I think it’s going to be really compelling." The executive went on to state that Season 2 will feature "bigger battles" as well as several iconic moments from Tolkien's books and appendices.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 does not yet have a release date. Season 1 is available to stream on Prime Video.
