Lost has no shortage of nasty characters. Throughout the show's six seasons, bad guys would wreak havoc on the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815, whether they were trying to kill them, silence them or harness the mysterious power of the island. Not all of Lost's villains are equal. Some manage to redeem themselves, some are misunderstood and some are plain evil, including the ones on this list.

10) Randy Nations

Serving double-duty in the Lost universe, Randy is first spotted as John Locke's insufferable boss. He makes a second appearance as Hurley's boss at Mr. Cluck's Chicken Shack. In both instances, he is an utter jerk, putting down both of the survivors in an attempt to make himself feel powerful. He isn't a villain in the traditional sense, but he is one of the most disliked characters in the series.

9) Eloise Hawking

Another person who isn't a traditional villain but has made malevolent decisions is Eloise Hawking. Her son Daniel Faraday is a sweet, harmless physicist who makes his way to the island, aware of some of its mysterious properties. He winds up travelling back in time and is shot by a younger version of his mother while she's pregnant with him. The worst part is she figures out what's going on and sends him back to the Island anyway. Not to mention, she plays a large role in banishing Desmond to the Island.

8) Tom Friendly

This ironically named man is a top dog among The Others and is first in line to do the bidding of whoever's in charge, whether that's Ben, Jacob or anyone else. He has the ability to be quite frightening, but overall he seems like he's almost a victim, blindly following orders without understanding what's really going on. No one should feel too bad for him, as he is the person who grabs Walt out of his father's arms on the raft.

7) Ben Linus

Ben is a complex character. Having been a victim all his life, one day he decides to venture into the jungle and strike up a deal with The Others. He subsequently kills the entire Dharma Initiative, including his father. He always had an evil streak, being the person who snatched Danielle Rousseau's baby from her camp when he was younger. Ben then raises this baby on his own, but he allows her to be killed. He manages to inspire sympathy from the audience, but as quickly as its gained, he manages to do something else terrible.

6) Mikhail

The very mysterious man with the eye patch - nicknamed Patchy - manages to find himself entangled in much of the evil goings-on of the Island. He is a former soldier from the Soviet army, a position during which he amassed an impressive body count. The largest strike against him would be him pulling the trigger on the grenade that kills Charlie. No amount of foretelling by Desmond could prepare the audience for Mikhail's evil grin as he pulled the pin.

5) Ethan Rom

There's something about Ethan that makes him a hated character. From pretending to be one of the survivors, to kidnapping Claire to harvest her baby, to leaving Charlie for dead, there is no shortage of sketchy deeds committed by Ethan. With this in mind, he has it coming when Charlie kills him in the jungle.

4) Anthony Cooper

While some characters might have redeemable qualities, there is nothing to bring Anthony Cooper back from the dark side. He's John Locke's conniving father, who manipulates Locke into donating his kidney to save Anthony's life. Locke is repaid by being thrown out of a window, after being ghosted. He causes an endless wake of anguish in Locke's life, but it doesn't end there. He is also the infamous Sawyer, the man behind James Ford's adopted namesake. As Sawyer, Anthony Cooper seduces Ford's mother and steals her husband's money, leading to the murder/suicide of Ford's parents. This is only his known list of crimes, not including his years of conning women.

3) Martin Keamy

Some people are born bad, with no regard for other human life. This seems to be an accurate way to describe Martin Keamy, the mercenary sent by Charles Widmore to kidnap Ben Linus, kill the survivors and destroy the island. Along the way, he murders Danielle Rousseau and Karl in front of Alex, forcing her to witness the death of her mother and boyfriend. He tops it off by murdering Alex on her front lawn.

2) Charles Widmore

One of the baddest of the bad, Charles Widmore will stops at nothing to get what he wants. What he wants is to harness the Island's mysterious power. His entire life is lived selfishly, including casting away his daughter Penny's one true love, Desmond, by indirectly sending him to the Island. Whenever something goes wrong for any of the survivors, there is a solid chance Charles Widmore is behind it. He has a habit of popping up where he isn't wanted, bringing destruction along with him.

1) The Man In Black

From day one on the Island, the survivors are engrossed in the mystery of the Smoke Monster. This monster creeps its way through the forest and kill members of the gang, leaving witnesses to question everything about their reality. The Man in Black isn't always the Smoke Monster, but rather it is Jacob's brother, who transforms into the Smoke Monster after he murders their adoptive mother. He doesn't have much of a chance from birth since he finds himself on the wrong side of the constant dark/light dichotomy between him and his brother.
