Lost in Space Season 2 Already in the Works

Netflix's Lost in Space may only have just debuted on Friday, but showrunners confirm they're already working on plans for a second season.

A reboot of Irwin Allen's 1960s sci-fi classic, the series uses the same characters and premise but adopts a more somber approach than the campy tone for which the original is best remembered.

Speaking with IndieWire, co-creator Matt Sazama revealed he and collaborator Burk Sharpless have ambitious plans on where to take the Robinson family next.

“We are working on scripts and hoping that if we get a green light we’re ready to go," he said. "We’ve had a lot of thoughts about it, and hopefully, if everyone watches it, we’ll get to see more adventures of the Robinsons, because we do have some crazy stuff planned out that we really hope we get to film.”

The duo has mapped out a bigger future, and hope to expand the mythology and delve into the backstory of the Lost in Space franchise. With Season 1 ending on a major cliffhanger, the promise of a second season is already there.

Steaming now on Netflix, the 10-episode first season of Lost in Space stars Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Maxwell Jenkins, Taylor Russell, Mina Sundwall, Ignacio Serricchio and Parker Posey.
