Lost Director Goes Headfirst Into Alphas

Lost is barely six feet under and already several former cast and crew members are finding new work, most notably Evangline Lilly on Real Steel opposite Hugh Jackman and Daniel Dae Kim back to the island with CBS' Hawaii Five-O. Now, another Lost veteran has found new work: Jack Bender, the director responsible for a vast portion of the series' episodes, including last night's finale.

Bender has been tapped as director and executive producer on Alphas, a 90-minute pilot from writers Zak Penn and Michael Karnow. The Syfy project focuses on ordinary men and women who develop extraordinary mental abilities and work together as a team to solve crimes. The pilot is shooting this summer in Toronto.

Speaking of Bender, Syfy original programming exec vice president Mark Stern said: "His vision and expertise are perfectly suited to the project, and will truly elevate it."
