New Zealand talent agency, BGT Actors Models & Talent, issued a casting call on the agency's Facebook page for Amazon Prime's Lord of the Rings television adaption, calling for "funky-looking" actors.

This casting call is strictly for New Zealand residents and listed individuals with an overbite, face burns, long skinny limbs, deep cheekbones, lines on your face, acne scars, ears that stick out, bulbous or interesting noses, small eyes, big eyes, skinny faces, [or] missing bones as preferable candidates. The call is open to all actors of any ethnicity between the ages of 18 and 65. BGT is the same talent agency that was previously in charge of casting extras for Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies in the early 2000's.

The Lord of the Rings halted filming back in March due to the coronavirus and received the green light to start up again in May. The series is expected to resume production in July in New Zealand.
