On the heels of last night's confirmation that both Newt Geiszler and Hermann Gottlieb will return for the sequel, star John Boyega shared a new logo for "Pacific Rim: Uprising" on his Twitter account.
The film, which was originally titled "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom" prior to its name change in December, is the long-gestating sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim," a film that didn't do well at the domestic box office but managed to pull in enough of an audience overseas to land a followup. Of course, the road to bringing the Jaegers back to the big screen hasn't been an easy one. Although Guillermo del Toro was originally set to return to direct the sequel, the production saw some setbacks, causing him to drop out as director. "Daredevil" showrunner Steven DeKnight will now helm the film.
The upcoming sequel will see not only a change behind the camera, but also in front of the camera, as series newcomers John Boyega ("Attack the Block", "Star Wars: The Force Awakens") and Cailee Spaeny will headline the film alongside "Suicide Squad's" Scott Eastwood.
