"Gotham's" midseason finale shocked viewers with a surprise death, but, as these new set photos reveal, that death may not mean the character's end. "Gotham's" 2015 finale saw -- spoiler alert -- the death of James Frain's Theo Galavan but new photos from the show's Brooklyn set reveal that the actor will return to the show in a totally unexpected role: Azrael.

Daily Mail reported that the actor was spotted on the show's Brooklyn set. A number of photos from the production have popped up on Instagram.

"Gotham" producer John Stephens first mentioned that Azrael would play a role in the show's second season back in November, following the Order of St. Dumas playing a larger role in the series. The character's involvement was confirmed earlier this month. Frain's character Theo Galavan was murdered by Jim Gordon and Oswald Cobblepot in the midseason finale; the episode ended with a tease stating that Galavan's body would be experimented on by Hugo Strange.
