Two months ago, Toho dropped the first trailer for "Godzilla: Resurgence," which also debuted their new take on the King of the Monsters. Thanks to Kaiju fansite Skreeonk, concept art from the film has surfaced online, revealing early concept work from Mahiro Maeda that offers a glimpse into the development of Godzilla's new look.

The concept art comes from "The Art of Shin Godzilla," a book that collects artwork from the development of "Godzilla: Resurgence." The book, which releases in August, is available for pre-order through Hobby Link Japan for $90.

Toho’s first Godzilla film in more than a decade, “Resurgence” is co-directed by Hideaki Anno (“Neon Genesis Evangelion”) and Shinji Higuchi (“Attack on Titan”). It’s expected to feature the tallest Godzilla yet, towering over the 108-meter creature depicted in Gareth Edwards’ 2014 U.S. film.

“Godzilla: Resurgence” opens this summer in Japan, and will arrive later this year in North America.
