Lone Ranger Targets Dwight Yoakam, Helena Bonham Carter, Barry Pepper

The cast of Lone Ranger is rapidly taking shape, with Heat Vision reporting that Helena Bonham Carter, Dwight Yoakam and Barry Pepper are in talks to join the Disney film.

Directed by Gore Verbinski, the adaptation of the radio series turned television classic stars Armie Hammer as the Texas Ranger left for dead and Johnny Depp as the Comanche who saves him and joins in his crusade for justice. Ruth Wilson is in negotiations for the female lead, while Tom Wilkinson has signed on as a railroad tycoon. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the film, which is set for release on Dec. 21, 2012.

According to Heat Vision, Carter would play the madam of a brothel who caters to both gentlemen and scoundrels. Yoakam would portray Butch Cavendish, leader of the notorious gang that ambushes Hammer's character. Pepper, meanwhile, would be a military officer.

Filming is scheduled to begin in mid-October in Texas and New Mexico.
