Lone Ranger Ropes More Actors

Even as principal photography officially begins on The Lone Ranger, Disney is busy adding four more cast members to director Gore Verbinski's big-budget Western.

Variety reports that Matt O'Leary (Frailty, Brick) and Harry Treadaway (Cape Wrath/Meadowlands, City of Ember) will play members of Butch Cavendish's gang, W. Earl Brown (Luck, Deadwood) and Leon Rippy (Alcatraz, Deadwood) will tackle unspecified roles.

Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer lead a cast that already includes Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter.

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, The Lone Ranger is described as "a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice — taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption."

Filming is already under way in New Mexico for a May 31, 2013, release.
