Marvel Studios has confirmed that principal photography on both WandaVision and Loki have effectively been shut down due to concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic sweeping the globe.

Both Disney+ series had been in the midst of filming in Atlanta, and now join fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in the temporary shutdown. The latter miniseries had been filming on location in Prague before halting production earlier this week due to travel concerns linked to the outbreak.

The three television series are not the only delays vexing Marvel Studios in the face of the global pandemic. Principal photography on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was stopped earlier this week in Sydney following concerns that director Destin Daniel Cretton had potentially contracted the coronavirus during production. Similarly, there has been speculation that the outbreak will negatively impact the worldwide box office for Marvel Studios' next major release, this May's Black Widow.

WandaVision had begun filming in Atlanta this past November, with Loki beginning principal photography in Georgia this past January. It is currently unknown if the delays will impact the announced release dates for any of Marvel Studios' projects, but projects currently in pre-production have begun to work remotely in the interim.

WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn. The limited series is intended to premiere on Disney+ in December.

The upcoming Disney+ series Loki is planned for release in 2021 and will feature six episodes. In addition to Tom Hiddleston, the series will also star Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard E. Grant.
