Disney+'s Loki will have major ramifications across the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"That would just be crazy conjecture," Loki head writer Michael Waldron told Total Film magazine regarding the idea of Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness having some sort of connection. "All of these stories, in their own way, are interconnected, and have ramifications. I think that certainly our aim with the Loki series was for it to have wide-reaching ramifications across the MCU moving forward. So, you know, was I having to clean up some of the messes that I made [with Loki]? Maybe so."

This is not the first time connections between Loki and the next Doctor Strange movie have been teased. Marvel Studios President and Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige previously said that Loki will tie directly into the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It's also worth noting that Waldron served as one of the writers of that upcoming MCU film.

As for how Loki could impact the broader MCU, Waldron recently said that what drew him to making Loki was crafting a fresh new domain in this franchise. "My pitch for the show was kind of a big, crazy, fun time adventure," he explained. "The [Time Variance Authority] is just an entirely new world [with] a new cast of characters, and that’s what felt most exciting about the show: building a new corner of the MCU." How the TVA could factor into future MCU installments remains to be seen.

Loki stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant. The series premieres June 9 on Disney+.
