Sophia di Martino, the actor playing the Variant Sylvie for the Disney+ streaming series Loki, wasn't told much of anything about either her role or the show itself during the early stages of casting.

In a recent interview on Comicbook.com's YouTube channel, actor Sophia di Martino revealed she was kept in the dark when initially contacted about the role by director/executive producer Kate Herron. The two had a working relationship before this project, so di Martino did a reading of a short piece she was sent.

"I didn't know anything. I was told that it was just like an 'unknown project.' I knew that Kate [Herron] was directing it, di Martino said. "I knew Kate before. I worked with her before on a short film. And she messaged me to say 'I'm working on this project,' really vague. 'I'd like to see what you do with this character. Your agent will be in touch.' And I just got sent a very short scene between 'Bob' and 'Sarah' and I just did a tape for it. But I didn't know what it was for or anything."

The character of Loki's Sylvie draws inspiration from both the God of Mischief and another Marvel comics character, Enchantress, but is a new creation for the Loki series. The actor also shared more about the casting process, her favorite episode of the series and what's in store for the remaining three episodes of the series.

Created by Michael Waldron and directed by Kate Herron, Loki stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, Eugene Cordero as Casey, Sasha Lane as Hunter C-20 and Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, with Richard E. Grant and Jack Veal. New episodes premiere Wednesdays on Disney+.
