New Loki Season 2 set photos just dropped that not only feature a reference to Eternals and the return of Mobius, but also seemingly hint at the Disney+ series' period setting. The behind-the-scenes snaps surfaced on Twitter and Instagram. They include images of stars Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson as Loki and Mobius T. Mobius, respectively, with both characters having traded in their TVA attire for black tuxedos. The scene in question appears to be a movie premiere in 1970s London, based on Hiddleston and Wilson's costumes and that of an extra seemingly dressed as Queen Elizabeth II, as well as the vintage cars and movie posters visible on set. One of these posters is for a film starring Kumail Nanjiani's Kingo, in a neat shout out to the Eternal's decades-long Bollywood career.Related: Thor 4 Director Wants to See Loki Birth His Eight-Legged Horse Child in the MCU

Filming on Loki Season 2 began in June 2022 at Pinewood Studios in London, United Kingdom. It's currently unclear how long the shoot is expected to last, however, it will likely run for around four months if Season 1's production schedule is anything to go by. Hiddleston previously revealed that pre-production was ramping up in April 2022, with the scripts still being finalized at the time. The star also teased that the Marvel Cinematic Universe series' second season will answer many of the questions raised by the first season's cliffhanger ending.

A new scribe will supply these answers, as Loki creator Michael Waldron recently confirmed that he's handing the Season 2 showrunner reins to Eric Martin. Waldron also announced who will replace Season 1 director Kate Herron, who publicly bowed out of Season 2 in July 2021. "We've hired a couple of great directors. [Justin] Benson and [Aaron] Moorhead are brilliant. And Eric Martin has taken over as head writer for Season 2. So the creative team is fantastic. As Tom [Hiddleston] once said, there's plenty more mischief to come," he said.

Waldron's comments indicate that Martin, Benson and Moorehead are well-suited to give fans more of what they've come to expect from Loki in Season 2, including side-splitting laughs. Hiddleston touched on what makes the God of Mischief so amusing in a recent interview. "The funny thing with Loki is he wants to let everyone know of his great high status," he said. "And there's nothing like status for comedy, really. Anyone who thinks they're important... If you pump up the hubris, humiliation can follow, and then it's funny. But you also play it with a sort've straight back, too."

Loki Season 1 is currently streaming on Disney+. Season 2 does not yet have a release date.
