Since Marvel Studios introduced the multiverse to the MCU, fans anxiously waited to see exciting variants of their favorite characters. Unarguably, Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe delivered. Now that Marvel announced the second season of Loki as part of Phase Five, many believe this show could be the perfect opportunity for favorite MCU variants to return.

Whether it's because they would add another intriguing layer to the plot, or because they would make iconic cameos, these characters definitely deserve to make another appearance. Expected to bring more wild, universe-changing fun, Loki's second season should prove exciting.

10 Fans Miss Scarlett Johansson As Black Widow

Black Widow speaks with Agent Peggy Carter in Marvel's What If…?

By the end of What If...?, The Watcher sent Natasha Romanoff to an Earth where her counterpart had already died. Since she was the only survivor of her reality, this gave Natasha a second chance at a normal life, becoming a member of this universe's Avengers.

Without a doubt, Black Widow's death remains one of the saddest moments of the MCU. Although the character returned for Black Widow, it hasn't been the same since she died. Fans want to see Scarlett Johansson return to the MCU. Featuring a live-action version of the What If...? Natasha variant on Loki would be an excellent opportunity.

9 Loki Would Have A Lot To Say About Party Prince Thor

Party Thor brings a fresh round of brew to his friends.

"What If... Thor Were an Only Child?" introduced Prince Party Thor, a smug, frat-bro version of the God of Thunder who partied all around the universe without a single concern. The boisterous god became a member of the Guardians of the Multiverse when Infinity Ultron became a threat.

Thor and Loki have one of the most complicated, yet deepest, relationships in the MCU. They've been friends, foes, and something in the middle. Given that this version of Thor may prove more than the God of Mischief can handle, it would be interesting to see what Loki thinks of this immature variant.

8 A Doctor Strange Variant Would Know More About The Multiverse Than Many

Strange Supreme from What If...? glares, while his eyes glow yellow

Since the multiverse became a constant in the MCU, a Doctor Strange variant has been in the middle of the situation. Whether it's in What If...? or in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Stephen Strange has dealt with or weaponized this new aspect of reality.

Given that Strange's more recent storylines involve the multiverse, Benedict Cumberbatch can easily reprise his role as the former Sorcerer Supreme in Loki. While he won't be the main character of the story, his knowledge about the multiverse may come in handy for the series' heroes.

7 Captain Carter Would Give Hayley Atwell The Opportunity To Reprise Her Role

Agent Peggy Carter presides with the Illuminati in the MCU's Doctor Strange 2

Since she first debuted in "What If... Captain Carter Were the First Avenger?" fans have been waiting to see her in live-action. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness already gives viewers a chance to see Hayley Atwell take on a similar role, but they still want to see her as a member of the Guardians of the Universe.

Since Loki and What If...? are unavoidably related due to their ties to the multiverse, the former's second season would be an excellent opportunity to bring Atwell back to the MCU. Maybe she and her reality's Natasha Romanoff can team up once again alongside Loki.

6 Loki Would Hate Jotunn Loki's Chill Attitude, Especially Regarding Thor

Jotunn Loki brings multiple frost giants to Thor's party.

"What If... Thor Were an Only Child?" depicts a reality where Loki grew up as the Prince of the Frost Giants, instead of being Thor's adoptive brother. This entails a huge change in personality. This earth's God of Mischief becomes a laidback, more sociable version of Loki, who considers Thor his best friend.

Jotunn Loki is one of Loki's more unique variants in the MCU. While most Loki variants remain villainous to a point, Jotunn Loki's fun to be with. It would be interesting — and surely very humorous — to see Earth-19999's Loki react to this amicable iteration of himself.

5 Throg Could Get Into A Fight With Alligator Loki

Throg throws a fit, jumping up and down in rage.

"Journey Into Mystery" introduces Throg, a variant of the God of Thunder who turns into a frog after unknown circumstances. In order to fix the timeline, the TVA resets him, and Throg winds up in the Void inside a glass bottle.

This character may seem like a joke, but Throg has been around since the '80s in the comics. Even though he isn't Thor Odinson, but Simon Walterson, this amphibian remains a core character in Thor's history. Should he appear in Loki's second season, fans hope Throg will get his chance to duel Alligator Loki.

4 Kid Loki May Play A Larger Role In The MCU

Kid Loki thinks, while resting his hands on his hips.

A teenage version of Loki Laufeyson, Kid Loki was pruned by the TVA after he killed his brother, Kid Thor, in his timeline. Although this cost him his life, it made Kid Loki the most respected and powerful Loki in the Void — which he now ruled with other Loki variants as his subjects.

Kid Loki is yet another teenage character recently introduced to the MCU, alongside America Chávez, Kate Bishop, and Kamala Khan. If fan theories about a Champions/Young Avengers amalgam supergroup are correct, Kid Loki must be included, and Loki season 2 can bring him into the MCU's main universe.

3 Infinity Ultron Is Too Interesting To Leave Behind

Ultron monologues while wielding the Infinity Stones.

At the end of What If...?, the Guardians of the Multiverse join forces to defeat one of the most dangerous villains in the MCU: Infinity Ultron. A variant of Ultron who possesses the Infinite Gauntlet, he acquires enough power to discover the existence of the multiverse.

Infinity Ultron's artificial intelligence combined with the stones' control over reality makes him one of the most powerful beings in the MCU. Unfortunately, his time in this universe has been short-lived. Hopefully, Loki will bring him back for a live-action scene, even if it's only a small flashback.

2 A Mobius Variant Could Shed Some Light Into Mobius' Life

Mobius M Mobius talking to Loki

A former TVA agent with a passionate love for jet skies, Mobius M. Mobius remains one of the greatest mysteries of Loki. After witnessing a self-discovery journey that helps Mobius realize he had a life before the TVA, fans started loving him. However, they never received answers regarding Mobius' past.

As a variant himself, Mobius clearly isn't the only one of his kind in the multiverse. The second season of Loki would miss an opportunity if it doesn't explore Mobius' past by bringing other variants into the action. Considering Owen Wilson's acting skills, this reunion has the potential to become an iconic MCU moment.

1 Kang The Conqueror Is A Must

Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror in Loki Season 1

The last episode of Loki, "For All Time, Always" revealed He Who Remains' true story. He's a man who stumbled upon the multiverse, and after his variants contacted each other and caused a multiversal war, he created the TVA to preserve the timeline.

Since then, fans discovered one of He Who Remains' variants was Kang the Conqueror, a time-traveling entity who served as a Marvel villain for decades. Jonathan Majors, who played He Who Remains, was confirmed to portray Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, exciting Marvel fans. However, many would also like to see him return for Loki's second season.
