A fan of the Disney+ series Loki shared a realistic cosplay of Alligator Loki, nicknamed Croki, featuring a real alligator.
Alexandra Ashe shared an image on Instagram of a small alligator, roughly the same size as Alligator Loki on the Disney+ series, wearing the character's gold-horned helmet. The alligator's name is Hendrick and Ashe said that his mouth had been taped shut for everyone's safety during the photo shoot. However, she assured followers that the tape was not wrapped tightly nor was it damaging to Hendrick's skin.
Ashe is the CEO and founder of Kinkatopia, a non-profit organization based in South Florida. While the cosplay image shows Ashe posing with Hendrick, the organization stands primarily as a sanctuary to 14 kinkajous. The small mammals, also known as honey bears, are native to tropical rainforests and Kinkatopia strives to provide the best care for captive kinkajous. Ashe assisted in rehoming over 50 of the species since the organization's inception in 2015.
The Instagram post of cosplay Croki received a positive response, with many followers admitting that the alligator was their favorite variant from the show. Alligator Loki first appeared in Episode 5 of Loki, "Journey Into Mystery," alongside other God of Mischief variants from alternate timelines. Croki was joined by Jack Veal's Kid Loki, a much younger version of Loki who killed Thor in an alternate timeline, and DeObia Oparei's Boastful Loki was also on hand to show the character's heightened egotistical side. Also featured was Richard E. Grant as Classic Loki, a variant revealed to have survived Thanos' attack on the Statesman during Avengers: Infinity War.
Alligator Loki is said to have been banished to the Void by the Time Variance Authority for eating a neighbor's cat -- a moment that triggered a nexus event. Aside from the variant's horned helmet, the alligator also possesses the ability to speak with other beings, has superhuman strength and speed as well as sharp fangs that are said to be strong enough to pierce the flesh and bone of a Frost Giant.
Despite the alligator's real-life origin being explained by Loki's head writer Michael Waldron, another fan of the show created a two-panel comic depicting a heartbreaking backstory for the variant. The scene recreates the moment from Kenneth Branagh's 2011 film Thor, when Loki's father Odin reveals that he was adopted from Laufey, King of the Frost Giants.
