Loki star Owen Wilson was scolded by Marvel Studios for sharing spoilers about the Disney+ series.

Wilson, who portrays Time Variance Authority Agent Mobius M. Mobius, confirmed that production had begun on the second season of Loki while appearing on ComicBook.com's Phase Zero podcast. Wilson was asked if Season 2 would see Mobius' dreams of owning a jet ski finally come true. "Well, I do think that, you know, we'll see what happens with this one," Wilson said. "I immediately get kind of self-conscious because they're so kind of uptight." When asked if he had ever been "scolded" by Marvel for revealing spoilers, Wilson said, "Yeah, multiple times."

Season 1 of Loki debuted on Disney+ in 2021 and explored the multiverse outside of the main Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline through the eyes of a variant Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston. Wilson has previously discussed dealing with Marvel Studios' strict no-spoilers policy and fan expectations in a June interview, wherein he described it as a new experience for him.

"I kind of talked about how I've worked on a lot of things, but the -- sort of the secrecy sort of surrounding this, I didn't quite understand until I saw that it's just so much," Wilson said. "The fan base is so, kind of revved up and passionate, and Marvel's just so kind of committed to trying to surprise people. So, then you kind of get into it... [Y]ou definitely are kind of walking on eggshells. Like, you know, 'cause you're not quite sure -- now, did this happen in episode 3 or 4 or 1, or have they already seen it? And so, I just tend to sort of fall back [and say] some very shocking things are gonna happen."

Loki Season 2 Starts Production

Season 2 of Loki began filming in June 2022 at Pinewood Studios in London. The upcoming season will see Wilson reprise his role as Mobius, along with Hiddleston as the titular God of Mischief and Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie. The Season 1 finale saw a surprise encounter between Loki and He Who Remains, played by Jonathan Majors, who is a variant of the villain Kang the Conqueror. At the end of the Season 1 finale, Mobius has no memory of Loki.

However, set photos from Season 2 show Wilson's Mobius with Hiddleston's Loki at what looks to be a movie premiere in London. Other behind-the-scenes photos also suggest that Mobius may finally get his chance to ride a jet ski. While little is known about the plot, Loki Season 1 head writer Michael Waldron confirmed that the Disney+ series' second season will be helmed instead by Eric Martin. Waldron also revealed the replacement for Season 1 director Kate Herron.

"We've hired a couple of great directors. [Justin] Benson and [Aaron] Moorhead are brilliant. And Eric Martin has taken over as head writer for Season 2. So the creative team is fantastic. As Tom [Hiddleston] once said, there's plenty more mischief to come," he said.

All six episodes of Season 1 of Loki are streaming now on Disney+. Season 2 is set for a Summer 2023 premiere.
