Before his upcoming series, Loki almost took a trip to the '70s for a disco-fueled short.

During a press conference for this week's premiere of Loki on Disney+, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige talked about an idea for the trickster that never became a reality. "There were ideas, as Tom will remember, for a short film, going back almost a decade for Loki in the '70s, like running a Studio 54 in the '70s," Feige revealed. "I think we had some concept art of him on a horse. Thankfully, thanks to Michael [Waldron] and Kate [Herron], the show became infinitely more interesting than that, and the time periods are almost secondary to the story itself."

In the early days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, One-Shots were short films set in the world that followed smaller stories and were included with the home video releases of various films. Two shorts focused on Coulson as he worked to help Nick Fury assemble the Avengers, one followed a group of thieves who nabbed some Chitauri tech after Avengers, one told the story of Agent Carter after Captain America: The First Avenger and the final one focused on Trevor Slattery in prison -- and set up the MCU's real Mandarin.

While not considered canon like the One-Shots, three shorts were also made involving Thor and his new roommate, Daryl. Other than that, however, the concept has all but disappeared, though many fans hope that Disney+ will provide a new outlet for such explorations into the smaller corners of the MCU. Regardless, the new slate of shows on the streaming service will help bring even more stories to life, and Loki's time-hopping nature seems like it could open all sorts of doors.

The first reactions to Loki have been overwhelmingly positive. So if the series ends up getting a second season, maybe the trickster will even end up in the '70s at one point.
