Loki announced a new head writer as show creator Michael Waldron revealed Season 1 co-writer Eric Martin will helm the series' continuation.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Waldron, who also wrote Marvel Studio's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, revealed that the film will have connections to Loki, going on to confirm Martin as Season 2's head writer. "Everything leads into everything, right?" Waldron said. "We've hired a couple of great directors. [Justin] Benson and [Aaron] Moorhead are brilliant. And Eric Martin has taken over as head writer for season 2. So the creative team is fantastic. As Tom [Hiddleston] once said, there's plenty more mischief to come." Although few details for the new season of Loki have been released, Waldron professed his faith that Martin will take the series in the right direction.

Martin is known for working on the first season of Loki where he collaborated with Waldron frequently. Martin contributed as a writer on two episodes of the mind-bending Marvel Cinematic Universe show, including the finale. Duo Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson are set to direct the second season, taking over the role from Season 1 director Kate Herron.

Waldron explained that the creative overlap between the first season and the second would help keep everything flowing smoothly. He also spoke to the difficulty of maintaining the continuity of a show set in the multiverse but assured fans that everyone at Marvel is on the same page when it comes to Loki. "You have to all have a shared language of all this stuff, otherwise it can get pretty confusing," Waldron said. He added that he was glad that he came to Doctor Strange 2 with "institutional knowledge" of the multiverse, due to his experience working on Loki.
