WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of Loki, "For All Time. Always.," streaming now on Disney+.

The Season 1 finale of Loki shook up everything audiences thought they knew about the Disney+ original series. In addition to moments like the big reveal about the TVA's founder and the creation of the MCU's multiverse, there was a fairly subdued but still major reveal that re-contextualized the actions of two of the show's main characters: Ravonna Renslayer and Miss Minutes.

As Loki and Sylvie approach The Citadel at the End of Time, they are greeted by a slightly unhinged Miss Minutes. She informs them that she has been in direct contact with He Who Remains, the TVA's creator, and offers them a deal on his behalf. The two variants decline, and Miss Minutes disappears.

Miss Minutes talking to Renslayer in Loki

After her conversation with the Loki variants, Miss Minutes appears in Ravonna Renslayer's office and provides her with a set of files directly from her master. Renslayer protests that the files aren't what she asked for, but Miss Minutes replies, "He thinks this will be more useful." When Renslayer asks about his identity, Miss Minutes simply wishes her happy reading and disappears.

These two scenes are important because they reveal that Miss Minutes is in direct contact with He Who Remains. This fact makes her even more important in the TVA's structure than Judge Renslayer, who up until now had served as the organization's overseer. Throughout the first season of Loki, it seemed that Renslayer knew about everything that was happening with the TVA and even potentially knew who had created it in the first place. The finale proved that Miss Minutes was really the one who had held the power and knowledge that Ravonna sought.

The reveal that Miss Minutes was the only one who fully knew what was going on with the TVA shines a new light on her actions throughout the season. Initially, it seemed as if Miss Minutes was simply a JARVIS-type artificial intelligence created to aid the TVA in its quest to protect the Sacred Timeline. However, her newly-revealed connection to He Who Remains revealed that Miss Minutes was guiding the TVA's path all along, ensuring that it followed the series of events determined by her master.

The revelation about Miss Minutes also comes back to a major theme throughout the first season: free will. Ravonna's final scene features her leaving the TVA, telling Mobius that she is going in search of free will. While Judge Renslayer was seemingly the one calling the shots at the TVA's ground level, even she didn't ultimately have any freedom due to being unwittingly set on a predetermined path by Miss Minutes.

Created by Michael Waldron and directed by Kate Herron, Loki stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, Eugene Cordero as Casey, Sasha Lane as Hunter C-20 and Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, with Richard E. Grant and Jack Veal. Season 1 is currently streaming on Disney+.
