Loki's animated nemesis, the Time Variance Authority's Miss Minutes, will have her own story arc on the series.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Loki director Kate Herron revealed the TVA's talking clock mascot was inspired by older cartoon characters like Felix the Cat and Roger Rabbit. In order to film the scenes where she interacts with Loki and other live-action individuals in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the show used a stand-in for the actors to react to. “It was basically like a lamp that we stuck little cardboard eyes on,” said Herron, admitting it was "quite scary."

“She was this little lamp on suitcase wheels that we’d spin around," Herron added. "She’s a light because she lights the scene because the character is illuminated. Then you replace the terrifying lamp with a lovely cartoon.” Herron went on to tease that Miss Minutes goes on an "interesting" personal journey over the course of the series.

Miss Minutes is voiced by Tara Strong, a prolific animation staple who voiced Timmy Turner on The Fairly OddParents, Bubbles on The Powerpuff Girls and Harley Quinn on DC Super Hero Girls, in addition to her many, many other roles in animated TV shows and movies released as far back as the late 1980s. She made her debut as Miss Minutes in Loki Episode 1, "Glorious Purpose," proving some useful exposition about the history of the TVA, the Time-Keepers and the Sacred Timeline in a pre-recorded video.

Following the series' premiere, Loki Episode 2, "The Variant," revealed Miss Minutes can walk around and interact with the everyday world. She only makes a brief appearance, providing a disgruntled Loki with vital lessons and quizzing him on topics like nexus events. Their scene ends with an annoyed Miss Minutes hopping into a computer after Loki tries to swat her with a rolled-up magazine. However, based on what Herron said, it appears the character will have more to do than irritate the God of Mischief moving forward.

Loki stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Lexus Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15 and Sophia Di Martino, Richard E. Grant, Sasha Lane and Eugene Cordero in undisclosed roles. The series premieres June 9 on Disney+.
