WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Loki Episode 5, "Journey Into Mystery," streaming now on Disney+.

With Loki, fans have learned all versions of the God of Mischief were meant to die. It's what the Sacred Timeline dictated for Tom Hiddleston's Loki at the hands of Thanos and why the Time Variance Authority eventually caught up to Richard E. Grant's Classic Loki. Come the show's latest episode, however, things get even darker when the show gives its deadliest variant the cruelest fate imaginable.

The main Loki finds himself in the Void after being pruned, meeting his other iterations, including Classic Loki, Kid Loki (Jack Veal),  Alligator Loki and Boastful Loki (Deobia Oparei), who are all trying to survive by remaining allies. When they all get to the group's lair, the fellowship dives into what their Nexus Events were, and Kid Loki quickly proves he's the most lethal of them all. His sin is that he killed Thor, a revelation that leaves the others petrified. It's something even the comic version of the God of Mischief has often failed to do, making Kid Loki quite an intimidating figure.

However, while he's got that feather in his cap, Kid Loki's still stuck in no man's land, being hunted by the dark, devouring cloud known as the Alioth. And to make matters worse, the group ends up getting betrayed by Boastful Loki, who serves them up to President Loki and his army. Fortunately, they all escape and work with Sylvie to formulate a plan to kill the cloud so she can get to the mastermind behind the Time-Keepers.

Before main Loki and Sylvie head off, Kid Loki gives his new friend his mystical blade and disappears with Classic, but there's still no happy ending. When Classic Loki returns to help Loki and Sylvie out, creating illusions of Asgard to trick Alioth, the cloud kills him. While the distraction allows Loki and Sylvie to enchant the cloud and move to the temporal citadel to solve the mystery, it also leaves Kid Loki alone in the void with only Alligator Loki at his side.

Variants of Loki in the MCU multiverse

Given that a damaged President Loki could still be roaming, as well as his sinister forces, the loss of his friends, especially his mentor Classic Loki, is a terrible fate for the young God of Mischief. Sure, the Void is his home now, but a major part of it was the people he had with him. So, unless Loki and Sylvie rescue him after they finish their mission, Kid Loi may have to welcome that death he's tried so long to avoid.

Loki stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Sophia Di Martino, Richard E. Grant, Sasha Lane and Eugene Cordero. New episodes air Wednesdays on Disney+.
