After a scene-stealing debut in Loki's finale episode, Jonathan Majors teased the many versions of Kang that will follow the demise of He Who Remains.

The latest episode of Marvel Studios: Assembled goes behind the scenes of Loki, with a look at how the show was made and interviews with the cast and crew. Though Majors' He Who Remains doesn't arrive until the end of Loki, he's already made a splash with his chaotic appearance -- and the questions it poses about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But while He Who Remains' manic personality has won over audiences and critics alike, Majors said there are other versions of the time-traveling character to come.

"I think with He Who Remains, the objective for me was to give me the largest canvas possible," Majors said. "And then from that, as Kang begins to rear his head and do his deeds, in so many ways, he has no choice but to be in opposition or to be different from He Who Remains. That was the thing that grabbed me and pulled me into the role. The fact that Kang lives in so many iterations. As He Who Remains says, 'Reincarnation, baby.'"

In the comics, Kang, aka Nathaniel Richards, exists in multiple forms across the timeline, each with a unique personality and set of goals. He Who Remains is the Citizen Kane of the group, thanks to his untold years of isolation in his Citadel. And while his quest to eliminate rogue timelines has both shades of evil and altruism, there are versions of him that are far more heroic and villainous.

One of those versions, Kang the Conqueror, is set to be the big bad in 2023's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Judging by the statue at the end of the Loki finale, that version may also appear on Season 2 of the Disney+ show, which doesn't yet have a release date. It's also widely believed that Majors will play other versions of the character across various MCU projects, looming even larger than Thanos in the process. There's even a younger version of Kang, Iron Lad, who helps to form the Young Avengers, a group Marvel is clearly setting up. That will likely be the one Kang variant that Majors doesn't play, however. Then again, Marvel does have some impressive de-aging effects.
