Loki was a hit for the MCU. Fans loved the characters and the plot was pretty good, building up towards the next season and establishing the MCU's multiverse. The show expanded upon Loki as a more heroic character, showing that he had the capacity for change, even if he was a Loki from a more villainous time in his life than the last time fans saw him. All in all, the show was entertaining, full of great Easter eggs, and fans are excited to see what comes next.

That doesn't mean it was perfect. There are lots of inconsistencies in the show, ones that many fans ignored. That doesn't mean they weren't there, though.

10 The Void Was Extremely Empty For All Of The Timelines That Would Have Been Pruned

The Void was an interesting idea, a place where the detritus of the pruned timelines was shunted to by the TVA. Sharp-eyed fans caught a lot of references to all kinds of things from the MCU but there's also a massive problem with the Void. Where was everyone else? One can argue that Alioth destroyed a lot of familiar faces that would have been there, but that doesn't mean there wouldn't be survivors.

While the Void was full of Loki variants, there was no one else. No Tony Starks survived? No Thanos? Just Lokis? It hurt the show immensely for the Void to be so empty.

9 Why Did Classic Loki Age?

classic loki

Classic Loki was one of the most popular Loki variants but he also brought up a lot of questions. Loki is immortal, so why did Classic Loki age? Now, one can bring up Odin but the weird thing about Odin is that he was seemingly always old, with the few glimpses fans have gotten of him in the distant past showing him looking pretty much like he looked when fans were introduced to him.

Making Classic Loki older looking is just kind of strange. Even taking into account that perhaps Norse gods age much slower, he would have been so old and powerful he easily could have escaped the Void on his own. Having him be so old made no sense for the show.

8 Why Didn't Kid Loki Age?

An image of an important scene that features Jack Veal as Kid Loki.

Kid Loki came from a timeline where he killed Thor when they were young. This set him apart from the other variants, as well as the comic version of the character. He was also the leader of the group of variants and had been in the Void the longest. So, why was he still a child? Why didn't he age?

Looking around at the building in the Void, things decayed, which meant that time and entropy existed there. Why was he still a kid? It could have been easily explained but instead, much like the aging of Classic Loki, it was completely glossed over.

7 Ravonna Letting Mobius Use Loki Makes No Sense

Ravonna Mobius Loki 1

The TVA plays a massive role in Loki and was based after massive bureaucracies like the one highlighted in Terry Gilliam's classic film Brazil. Such an organization wouldn't reward individual initiative, so Mobius being allowed to use a Loki to find Sylvie makes no sense. Ravonna seems very much like a by-the-book sort, so her letting him do so is just incongruent.

Lokis are massive wild cards and an organization like the TVA isn't going to allow them to be used. Ravonna just kowtowing to Mobius's wishes because of their friendship makes zero sense, especially from what fans are shown of her history.

6 The TVA's Level Of Technology Is Inconsistent

So, the TVA has the ability to watch the Sacred Timeline and pinpoint when and where nexus events are about to happen. Each hunter carries weapons that can shunt entire portions of the timeline off to the Void. Their technology level is amazing and yet can't find Sylvie, even though they have the ability to detect even the most minute change in the timeline.

For example, even though Sylvie goes to doomsday events, her actions there still cause ripples. She's still warping the timeline by eating food and using resources that she isn't "supposed" to. The TVA's technology should be able to pick up that sort of thing but it doesn't, which is extremely plot convenient.

5 Why Did Loki And Sylvie Trust Each Other?

Loki and Sylvie stand together during the apocalypse

Some of the most heartwarming moments of the show came from Loki and Sylvie's interactions but when it comes right down to it, the fact they ever trusted each other at all is pretty weird. Loki knows that another Loki is basically untrustworthy. Sure, they'll work with others to get their own way but once they get there, it's everyone for themselves.

Loki does actually prove to be trustworthy but Sylvie doesn't. While one can posit that Loki fell for her act because of his feelings for her, he should know that as a Loki she was inherently untrustworthy.

4 How Did Two Variants Create A Nexus Event?

Loki and Sylvie Lamentis-1 Nexus Event

Loki and Sylvie were about to die on Lamentis and had a rather touching moment as that world ended. Somehow, this caused a nexus event that set off the TVA's scanners and allowed agents to come and get them. So, how did two variants on a dying world about to kiss cause a nexus event?

It's not like they could have created another timeline on Lamentis; they were trapped and about to die. Them falling in love with each other (or whatever was happening) is no reason for a nexus event. Even if the computer was picking up the fact that they would eventually overthrow the TVA and cause multiple timelines to emerge in the future, leaving them on Lamentis to die would have solved the problem.

3 Why Didn't The TVA Immediately Prune Sylvie And Loki After Lamentis?

Sylvie at the TVA

So, the TVA bring Sylvie and Loki back to base after Lamentis. Instead of pruning them immediately, they keep them for questioning, which makes no sense. Why keep them prisoner even for a short time? Sylvie was known for destroying TVA operations and Loki broke the rules set out for him. Ravonna should have immediately pruned both of them.

The irony is that even from a creative standpoint, doing this still would have ended up with Loki and Sylvie in the Void and everything still would have happened the way it did anyway. Even for dramatic purposes, this made no sense.

2 How Did Kang Get Alioth To Protect Him?

Alioth of the Void in Loki

Alioth was basically a shark writ large, destroying whatever it wanted in the Void and protecting Kang's hideaway. So, the question is how did Kang get it to do so? Alioth didn't seem intelligent. If it was it would have just consumed everything that appeared in the Void as it showed up.

There didn't seem to be any technology that Kang used to control it. Otherwise, he probably could have stopped Loki and Sylvie, factors that were about to become unpredictable, from getting to him. Even if one thinks of it like a dog, how did he train it without it eating him?

1 So Much About Kang Makes No Sense

Loki-For-All-Time-Always-He-Who-Remains

Kang in Loki supposedly has access to all of time. He knew that Loki and Sylvie were coming to him, even if he didn't know what was going to happen after their arrival. That means he knew everything that happened with both of them up until that point. This also means that he knew where Sylvie was at all times. He could have stopped her at any time by telling the TVA where she was through Ravonna. Why didn't he?

This is just one of many questions about Kang that the show never answers. Kang as a character is vaguely ridiculous and his existence breaks so much about the show.
