Loki star Owen Wilson discussed what it's like to deal with Marvel Studios' notorious secrecy and the expectations of fans.

During a Marvel Studios press conference promoting this week's debut of Loki on Disney+, Wilson was asked about joining the MCU and what's been unique about the experience. "It's exciting to be a part of [the Marvel Cinematic Universe]," Wilson said. "You know, with just kind of seeing the [Loki] trailer start to come out and how excited people get... I kind of talked about how I've worked on a lot of things, but the -- sort of the secrecy sort of surrounding this, I didn't quite understand until I saw that it's just so much."

"The fan base is so, kind of revved up and passionate, and Marvel's just so kind of committed to trying to surprise people," Wilson continued. "So, then you kind of get into it... [Y]ou definitely are kind of walking on eggshells. Like, you know, 'cause you're not quite sure — now, did this happen in episode 3 or 4 or 1, or have they already seen it? And so, I just tend to sort of fall back [and say] some very shocking things are gonna happen."

While all Marvel projects are cloaked in secrecy, the nature of Loki, like WandaVision before it, appears to involve lots of twists and surprises. Theories have already swirled, like Mephisto appearing on Loki or the alternate takes on the trickster that might appear. And critics so far have praised Loki for the risks it takes, so keeping a lid on things is probably more challenging than ever, especially for an actor used to doing more straightforward comedies.

Luckily, Wilson should be able to rely on his previous skills. Kevin Feige discussed why Loki and Thor are funnier in the MCU, saying that the actors behind the roles helped make the change possible. With Wilson and Tom Hiddleston trading quips, the jokes each episode might be as talked about as the big reveals.

Loki stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Lexus Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15 and Sophia Di Martino, Richard E. Grant, Sasha Lane and Eugene Cordero in undisclosed roles. New episodes premiere Wednesdays on Disney+.
