WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the Loki Season 1 finale, "For All Time. Always." now streaming on Disney+.

Loki has had some complicated relationships throughout his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but, thanks to Disney+'s Loki, he has now experienced a true friendship.

During a Q&A session on Tumblr, Tom Hiddleston was asked how he viewed Loki and Agent Mobius' rapport with one another, to which he readily answered that they were friends. Hiddleston looked back at how Mobius approached the God of Mischief in Loki's pilot, noting that "Loki is a very defensive, very self-isolating, very unattached character. He's got so many defenses. Even his charm and his charisma and his playfulness is a kind of defense. And he arrives in the series and he tries to push people away, whether he knows that or not."

What Mobius did that was different from all other Marvel characters, Hiddleston continued, is that "he confronts Loki with something which he's never experienced before, which is a sort of a presentation of who he is, without judgement and with compassion. And I think everybody else in Loki's life up until that point has been emotionally engaged in this resistance that Loki has. And Mobius has a detachment. Which is to say that I see who you are and I don't judge you and in a way, I understand and I have compassion. And they have a lot to learn from each other. And in that moment, there's a... Loki has a kind of moment of real vulnerability at the end of Episode One. And Mobius is able to step up to that moment and meet him there."

Hiddleston later added that his favorite Loki line -- when Loki told Mobius, "Thank you my friend," before going off to challenge Alioth with Sylvie -- were "four words I'm not sure [Loki] has uttered in his life." He enjoyed how "it felt new. It felt like a new chord, something, a new utterance, a new expression for Loki... Glorious purpose is obviously great, but maybe it was time to change his tune."

While Loki and Mobius became friends across the show, Loki's season finale teased complications in their relationship after he and Sylvie confronted He Who Remains. Despite warning them of the dangers posed by his alternate selves to the multiverse should he be killed, Sylvie did it anyway, but not before pushing Loki back through a portal to the Time Variance Authority. Upon reuniting with Mobius and Hunter B-15, however, Loki discovered that neither of them recognized him, with the TVA's architecture now changed to resemble Kang the Conqueror rather than the Time-Keepers, a timeline change that will likely be explored in Season 2 of Loki.

Loki stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Sophia Di Martino, Richard E. Grant, Sasha Lane, and Eugene Cordero. All six episodes of Season 1 are available on Disney+.
