For Loki director Kate Herron, getting Owen Wilson's Agent Mobius onto a jet ski is an essential requirement for Season 2 of the Marvel Studios/Disney+ series.

"So I guess that's the task, right?" Herron told Collider. "Of whoever directs it next, they have to get him on his jet ski." She then teased that it should kick off the Season 2 premiere episode before reminiscing about how "me and the writers and everyone who worked on the show, we were also delighted because, obviously, seeing everyone, they loved the jet skis. And we were like, 'There was so much stuff,' and we were like, 'Oh, man.' Because we all knew, obviously, he was not going to be on one. So I think definitely; I'm sure that will be a treat for the next season."

Mobius' jet ski obsession was first referenced in Loki's second episode as a dream goal of the Time Variance Authority analyst, albeit one he doesn't act on in fear of causing a branch in the Sacred Timeline. By the fourth episode, however, Mobius' discovery that the TVA members were all repurposed variants -- himself included -- led to him learning that Judge Ravonna Renslayer killed one of their Minutemen for remembering her past. Before getting pruned for his transgression, Mobius admitted to Ravonna that, if he could go anywhere, he'd return to his old pre-TVA identity and hopefully find a jet ski in that life. As Mobius, Loki and Sylvie learn, however, pruning a variant doesn't kill them automatically, but rather sends them to the Void where they're eventually consumed by Alioth.

It was announced after Loki's first season concluded that Herron would not be returning for Season 2. The Season 1 finale saw Loki and Sylvie confront the TVA's creator, He Who Remains, who warned them of the threat posed by his alternate selves should they become unconstrained by the timeline he helped shape. When Sylvie kills He Who Remains anyway, this warning comes to pass, as Loki returns to a TVA where Mobius has no recollection of their time together and another version of He Who Remains openly runs the organization.

Loki stars Tom Hiddleston. Season 1 is now streaming on Disney+, while Season 2 has yet to receive a premiere date.
