Marvel Studios has released a new clip from its upcoming Disney+ original series Loki, which is slated to premiere on June 9 and sees Tom Hiddleston reprise his role as the eponymous God of Mischief. The clip introduces viewers to the Time Variance Authority's Agent Mobius, played by Owen Wilson.
The clip opens with Mobius and Loki riding in a bizarrely-labeled elevator, at which point the TVA agent introduces himself to Thor's adoptive brother. After evidently saving Loki from execution, Mobius explains that he'd like to have a talk. When Loki asks how long Mobius has been with the TVA, the agent explains that it's "hard to say" as "time passes differently here." When Loki asks what exactly that means, Mobius simply says, "You'll catch up."
Created by Walt Simonson, the character of Mobius M. Mobius (or simply Mr. Mobius) first appeared in 1991's Fantastic Four #353. Much like his Marvel Cinematic Universe counterpart portrayed by Wilson, the comic book version of Mobius works for the TVA, a vast bureaucracy that governs various dimensions across the Marvel multiverse.
Loki picks up after the events of the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, in which an alternate version of Loki creates a new timeline after successfully stealing the Tesseract in 2012. It is set to premiere next month as the third entry in Marvel Studios' lineup of Disney+ original series, following WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Picking up immediately after Loki steals the Tesseract (again), he finds himself called before the Time Variance Authority, a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space, forced to answer for his crimes against the timeline and given a choice: face deletion from reality or assist in catching an even greater threat.
Loki stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard E. Grant. The series premieres June 9 on Disney+.
