Marvel Studios President/Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige confirmed Black Widow will feature the events Loki taunted Natasha about in The Avengers.

During an interview at the Black Widow premiere, Feige highlighted Natasha Romanoff as a veteran Marvel Cinematic Universe character and said there are many Easter eggs to look out for in the film. Among these, Feige then mentioned the scene in 2012’s The Avengers where Loki taunts Natasha after she interrogates him in the Helicarrier’s holding unit. Feige revealed that the events Loki spoke of will be explored within Black Widow and provide answers as to why Loki’s taunt was particularly devastating for Natasha to hear.

An Easter egg from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was also confirmed by Feige to be in the upcoming film. He explained how this Easter egg was meant to debut in Black Widow and be revisited in the Disney+ show, but due to the film’s delay, the Easter egg’s appearance was switched.

The Avengers scene in question involves Natasha opening up to Loki whilst interrogating him, only for the God of Mischief to begin airing traumatic events from her past. One of Natasha’s past missions is referenced, which involved São Paulo, Dreykov’s daughter and a hospital fire. Natasha’s remorse for certain events is alluded to in the Black Widow trailer, which will tie into Loki’s recollection.
